I just had the chance to watch this very interesting video by Sugata Mitra on truly child driven education.
Education is a self-organizing system, where learning is an emerging phenomenon.
Every teacher that could be replaced by a computer, should be.
If people have interest, learning happens.

Of course the implications of what he is saying constitute a radical disruption to the status quo respecting education. Beneficiaries of the industrial education system, administrators, teachers, vendors, shareholders, do not want to hear this type of thing. However, this type of information is hard to suppress and soon the unfairness creates such a huge cognitive dissonance that old systems begin to collapse and new systems arise.
ReplyDeleteHappily for teachers, not all of their functions can be replaced by a machine.
