How do we bridge the gap?

Can online exchange really bridge the gap? Can using a single common language really help us become quality global communicators?

The question remains open.
What do you think?

The Sound of Silence

Close your eyes and listen to the song:

Now think of the following lines:

"... and in the naked light I saw

Ten thousand people, maybe more

People talking without speaking

People hearing without listening ..."

If you had to find a sentence or a word to describe how these 4 lines make you feel, what woudl that be? Why? Feel free to share your emotions here!

Virtual ESC rocks!

What a great idea to create an affinity group and meet up in SL! And the Empire State College Island is just the perfect place to do it! Guided by Eileen aka Eilock Clavenham, we are exploring SL and its potentials. We explore, have fun and learn.

Everything started one night (GMT+1 time) in early September with an Elluminate meeting where we all met up, then we had a walking tour on the island and a short time later a treasure hunt that was real fun!

Here's a slideshare Eileen has created with a list of the winners (I'm in there too!)

A SL Basic Usage Meeting followed the treasure hunt and here is a short video Eileen prepared just after the meeting:

It is a great opportunity to learn and I am looking forward to the next meeting, where we will be guided through a SL basic-building and creating-meeting materials gathering!

Will keep you posted!

Presenting for the 6th CDL Annual Conference - SUNY Empire State College.

Presenting for a conference in Second Life can be real fun! As part of Carol Yeager's presentation "Creativity and Integrated Technology for Lifelong Learning", I was able to present a short piece about my experience as a Teaching Assistant at SUNY Empire State College. During Carol's live f2f presentation, our avatars Couki Clary (Carol) and Sunflower Lionheart (myself) met at Conviviality Corners, Telmea Story (Glen Gatin)'s place in Second Life. The videocast I had previously prepared was embedded in an interactive whiteboard and the trick was done!
I would like to thank Carol Yeager for giving me the possibility to attend the conference even if I could not be in Saratoga Springs today and a special thank you goes to Glen Gatin for his hospitality at Conviviality Corners.
Here is the videocast with my piece titled "My Language Nights":

Here's the recording of part of the presentation in Second Life:

And here are a couple of pictures I took before, during and after the presentation with my friend Carol!

A terrific mLearning 7-day course: Mobile Learning by Nicky Hockly

People say, better late than never, so here I am!
Mlearning by Nicky Hockly has been a wonderful experience, so enriching from all perspectives. I have learnt a lot and Nicky has done a great job designing and moderating this amazing course, with so much to  learn from and investigate.
This terrific course has provided me with a much better understanding of what mobile learning is and of its many aspects.
It has been an incredible experience to meet over 260 participant from so many different corners of the globe, all interested in the same topic and with so much to communicate!
Loads of food for thought: articles, videos, interviews, forums, etc were all offered through the Moodle.
So many interesting threads were added and thought provoking discussions were introduced and moderated,
Thank you Nicky! You were just great! And...I am looking forward to your next online course!
